Data Protection on Demand organizes accounts by User Role and Tenant type. There are three roles in the DPoD user hierarchy: Service Provider Tenant Administrators, Subscriber Tenant Administrators, and Application Owners; and two tenant types: Service Provider Tenants and Subscriber Tenants.

Service provider administrators manage service provider tenants which distribute subscriber tenants to tenant administrators. Tenant administrators manage subscriber tenants and distribute cryptographic resources to application owners who access the subscriber tenant.
