Migrating Agents from CTE-U to CTE

Assumptions

• CTE-U agents are installed on a client and registered to a CipherTrust Manager.

• GuardPoints are setup and encrypting data on the CTE-U Agent.

Migrating

When you have a CTE-U agent that is already registered with CipherTrust Manager, and you want to change it from CTE-U to CTE, you must perform the following steps in order:

1. Unguard the GuardPoints on the client from CipherTrust Manager.

   a. Go to the CipherTrust Manager UI.

   b. In the GuardPoint window, click the ellipsis on the right side of a GuardPoint and select disable to disable the GuardPoint.

   c. Repeat the steps for all of the GuardPoints on the nodes to be upgraded.

2. Uninstall the CTE-U software from the agent.

3. Unenroll the client from CipherTrust Manager.

4. Delete the entry from CipherTrust Manager.

5. Add the client back into CipherTrust Manager.

6. Install and Register the new Agent.

7. Create a new LDT policy.

   Note

   Make sure that the policy uses the same key in CTE-U and in CTE.

8. Create new LDT GuardPoints and apply the LDT policy to the new GuardPoints on the CTE agent.
