Clients
A CTE UserSpace client represents a machine where CTE UserSpace is installed. The client is automatically added to the CipherTrust Manager on successful registration.
CTE UserSpace provides options to view existing clients, view and modify their details, and delete them when they are no longer required.
Viewing Registered Clients
The Clients page shows the list of clients registered with the CipherTrust Manager. Filter clients based on characters in their names and hostnames, and OS type.
To view the registered clients:
Open the ProtectFile & Transparent Encryption UserSpace application.
In the left pane, click Clients, if needed. The Clients page shows the list of registered CTE UserSpace clients. The Clients page shows the following details:
Parameter Description Client Name Name of the client. IP or Host Name IP address or hostname of the client. OS Type Operating system running on the client. "linux" is displayed for CTE UserSpace. Profile Profile for the client. The client will be linked with this client profile. The default client profile is Default_ClientProfile
.Updated Time when the client is updated. Last Checkin Time when the client last talked to the CipherTrust Manager. Product Name Name of the product installed on the client. CTE-U is displayed for CTE UserSpace.
Modifying Registered Clients
After a client is registered with the CipherTrust Manager, you can change it IP address or hostname and the linked client profile. The OS of a registered client cannot be modified.
To modify a registered client:
Open the ProtectFile & Transparent Encryption UserSpace application.
In the left pane, click Clients, if needed.
Click the overflow icon () corresponding the client you want to modify.
Click Edit. The edit view of the <client-name> page is displayed.
Select a Profile.
Change the IP Hostname.
Click Save.
The client details are updated.
Deleting Registered Clients
Warning
As soon as a client is deleted from the CipherTrust Manager, all communication between the CipherTrust Manager and the client will stop immediately. It is recommended that all files and folders be decrypted before deleting the client, otherwise all encrypted files and folders will become inaccessible.
To delete a registered client:
Open the ProtectFile & Transparent Encryption UserSpace application.
In the left pane, click Clients, if needed.
Click the overflow icon () corresponding the client you want to delete.
Click Delete. A dialog box is displayed prompting you to confirm the action. Deletion of a client is permanent and cannot be undone.
Click Delete. To cancel the deletion, click Cancel.
The deleted client is removed from the list of registered clients.
