Disabling GuardPoints
If you have protected a GuardPath with a GuardPoint, and you want to protect the path with a different policy, then you need to remove or disable the existing GuardPoint first.
When a GuardPoint is disabled, the client stops enforcing protection on the GuardPoint. However, references to the GuardPoint exist in the CipherTrust Manager configuration.
Disable individual GuardPoints
To disable a GuardPoint:
Open the Transparent Encryption application.
Select the client or client group from which you want to disable the GuardPoint.
Click a client under the Client Name column (Clients > Clients).
Click a client group under the Client Group Name column (Clients > Client Groups).
On the GuardPoints tab, select the GuardPoint to be disabled.
Click the overflow icon (
) corresponding to the desired GuardPoint, and click Disable.
The GuardPoint status becomes Disabled
.
Disable multiple GuardPoints
To disable multiple GuardPoints at once:
Open the Transparent Encryption application.
Select the client or client group from which you want to enable the GuardPoints.
Click a client under the Client Name column (Clients > Clients).
Click a client group under the Client Group Name column (Clients > Client Groups).
In the the GuardPoints tab, select the checkboxes corresponding to the GuardPoints that you want to disable.
Select the Disable option from the top.
A confirmation dialog box with a message will appear.
Click Disable.
After the process is complete, a screen will be displayed showing the details of the successfully disabled GuardPoints. The status of these GuardPoints becomes Disabled
.
This screen also provides information on any GuardPoints that could not be disabled, along with the corresponding troubleshooting error messages. After addressing the issues, you may attempt the disable operation again.
