User Management Performance

The test environment for user management performance in the REST API includes a single CipherTrust Manager physical appliance and a multithreaded client.

• Client

  • 10Gig network

  • Directly connected VM on ESXi5

Operations tested were retrieving information for a single user, retrieving information for all users, creating users, updating a user's name, and deleting users.

All tests were run for 180 seconds duration and repeated for different numbers of users — 10, 30, 50 users. The users acted on were local users operating in the root domain.

Results for 10 Users

The aggregated performance of all user management operations was 14.8 average requests per second, with a 95th percentile response time of 2600 ms.

The performance for the individual operations follows:

• Retrieving information for all users: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 4400 ms.

• Creating users: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 260 ms.

• Deleting a user: 2.9 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 900 ms.

• Retrieving information for a single user: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 88 ms.

• Updating a user's name: 2.9 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 230 ms.

Results for 30 Users

The aggregated performance of all user management operations was 15.2 average requests per second, with a 95th percentile response time of 10000 ms.

The performance for the individual operations follows:

• Retrieving information for all users: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 13000 ms.

• Creating users: 3.1 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 690 ms.

• Deleting a user: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 1800 ms.

• Retrieving information for a single user: 3.1 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 110 ms.

• Updating a user's name: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 230 ms.

Results for 50 Users

The aggregated performance of all user management operations was 15.2 average requests per second, with a 95th percentile response time of 16000 ms.

The performance for the individual operations follows:

• Retrieving information for all users: 3.0 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 18000 ms.

• Creating users: 3.2 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 1900 ms.

• Deleting a user: 2.9 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 5200 ms.

• Retrieving information for a single user: 3.2 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 910 ms.

• Updating a user's name: 2.9 average requests per second, 95th percentile response time 1600 ms.
