Advisory Notes

This section highlights important issues you should be aware of before deploying Luna Backup HSM G5 firmware 6.26.0.

Partition Increase Applies to New Luna Backup HSM G5s Only

The increase to 100 partition backups applies to new Luna Backup HSM G5s that ship with firmware 6.26.0 or newer; upgrading an older Backup HSM to firmware 6.26.0 will not increase the total number of partitions that can be backed up.

Remote Backup Over IPv6 is Unavailable

Network connections from the Luna HSM Client to a Remote Backup Server must use IPv4.

NOTE   Network connections from the client to the HSMs you want to back up using RBS can use IPv6. Only the connection from the client to the RBS server requires IPv4.

Luna Backup HSM G5 Firmware 6.26.0 Client Requirements

You can apply firmware upgrade 6.26.0 to your existing Luna Backup HSM G5s to increase their backup storage capacity from 15.5 MB to 32 MB. This allows you to fully back up a Luna HSM 7 HSM that takes advantage of the increased key storage capacity offered in this release.

If you plan to use the upgraded Luna Backup HSM G5 to migrate keys from Luna 5/6 HSM partitions, Thales recommends using Luna HSM Client 10.1.0 or newer; older client versions, particularly Luna 6.x clients, may not recognize the Luna Backup HSM G5 once it has been updated to firmware 6.26.0.
