Installing the SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS Provider

The installer is provided as a tar file:

  • protectapp_luks_v8.5.0.000-001_RHEL7.tar (for OEL 7.9)

  • protectapp_luks_v8.5.0.000-001_RHEL8.tar (for OEL 8.6)

Note

If you are already using SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS Provider, you need to uninstall the existing one and install the latest SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS Provider with SafeNet ProtectApp libraries. To do so, you need to install the SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS Provider which is provided as a tar file.

This will replace the old ProtectApp integrated binaries with new SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS binaries and disable the integrated functionalities.

To install SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS Provider:

  1. Extract SafeNet ProtectApp LUKS Provider package using the following command:

    tar –xvf protectapp_luks_v8.5.0.000-001_xxx.tar

  2. After executing the above command, a folder (icapi_luks) with the following installation files is created:

    • cryptsetup

    • cryptsetup-reencrypt

    • libICAPI.so-8.14.0.001

    • libcryptsetup.so.12.6.0

    • ks_config

    • ks_user_config

    • install.sh

  3. Execute install.sh to complete the installation.
