Quality of Service for LDT CIFS/NFS GuardPoints
You can perform QoS administrative functions on the current primary CTE host. If the same CTE host is acting as a primary and secondary for multiple GuardPoint, the LDT schedule and/or Pause/Resume administrative options target those GuardPoint for which the host has assumed the primary role. This restriction is enforced through QoS functions available on CipherTrust Manager and the voradmin command.
Note
-
The current pause/resume state of LDT at the host/client level, is contained in the
/var/vormetric/vorm-prs
file. This file is not protected. If it is accidentally removed or changed, it will be re-created and updated to reflect the correct pause/resume status within 30 seconds or less. -
Be sure to pause or resume LDT on the primary host only.
Suspending LDT from the CTE Agent CLI and CipherTrust Manager GUI
Promotion of a secondary host, to the primary role, can alter the current pause/resume state of the GuardPoint on the newly promoted host. The new state of the GuardPoint depends on the pause/resume state and how the pause/resume was initiated on the primary host prior to promotion. The following bullet points outline two ways to initiate pause/resume and the limitation of pause/resume on an LDT NFS GuardPoint:
Pause/Resume using CTE Agent CLI
-
The voradmin command to suspend the GuardPoint is a persistent state that will be retained even after a system reboot.
-
The suspended state enforced by the new primary after a promotion process.
-
Suspend/resume on an LDT NFs GuardPoint through a voradmin command can only be executed on the primary host.
Pause/resume using CipherTrust Manager GUI
-
Pressing the pause button on a specific client, on the CipherTrust Manager client tab, only suspends the GuardPoint(s) on that host.
In the event of a promotion, the GuardPoint resumes rekey on the new primary host, if the host tab on the CipherTrust Manager, for the newly promoted primary, is not set to suspend state.
-
When using a client group, pressing the pause button sets the pause setting on all of the client that are members of that client group.
In the event of a promotion, the GuardPoint remains in the suspended state on the newly promoted primary host, until the pause button is pressed to resume rekey.
