Fetching Latest Capabilities from Clients
Note
This feature will be available from CTE 7.5.0.
CipherTrust Manager 2.14 and Lower
When a CTE Agent supports a capability but the CipherTrust Manager with which the Agent is registered doesn't, the CipherTrust Manager ignores the unsupported capability. After the CipherTrust Manager is upgraded to 2.14 or a lower version, the CipherTrust Manager requires the CTE Agent restart to fetch the latest capabilities from the client.
CipherTrust Manager 2.15 and Higher
When a CTE Agent supports a capability but the CipherTrust Manager with which the Agent is registered doesn't, the CipherTrust Manager ignores the unsupported capability. After the CipherTrust Manager is upgraded, the CipherTrust Manager administrator can fetch the latest capabilities from all the active clients present in the current domain without requiring the Agent restart.
Note
When a CipherTrust Manager that doesn't support the CTE Confidential Computing (CC) capability is upgraded to a version that supports the capability, you must unenroll and re-register any CC-capable CTE Agents already registered with the CipherTrust Manager to use CC.
To fetch the latest capabilities from active clients of the current domain:
Log on to the CipherTrust Manager GUI.
Switch to the desired domain.
Open the Transparent Encryption application.
Navigate to Settings > Client Information and Capabilities.
Under Request Capabilities from All Clients, click Get Capability.
A confirmation message appears stating that this is a time intensive operation and would run in the background. This process may take a few minutes to complete depending on the number of active clients in the current domain. The active CTE clients will continue working with no impact. Do you want to continue?
Click Get Capability.
The latest capabilities are fecthed from all the active CTE clients present in the current domain. Update Client Capability audit records are generated on the CipherTrust Manager. Review the records on the Server Records tab of the Loki Audit Records page (Records > Loki Audit Records).
Note
When a request to fetch the latest client capabilities is in progress, triggering the operation again will lead to an error message.
